Presently the Indian Institute of Technology has declared the imminent increase in the fee structure is anticipated to be effective from the next academic year which has raised concerns among the students and the parents are alike and the parents feel this increase in fee would make a huge dent in their finances.


Arun Sudarsan an alumnus of IIT Madras and a Research scholar of the National University of Singapore has told that this fee increase will be a blow for the salaried class of people and he also said that education and health are two crucial factors needed for mobility. Students have to take educational loan and have to take job after completing UG and how can they do higher studies in such situation.


Parents have started to feel that that the increase has put the higher education at the IIT’s are almost on par with the private institutions. The school fee for Higher Secondary education could now set back a family by as much as one lakh rupees for two years and they believe that the increase was inevitable.


A parent whose daughter has opted IIT has told that presently there is demand for the course and a loan of two Lakhs for each of the four years amounts to a lot of money and this excluded expenses for books and hostel. The government should have a plan for the economically poor people too.
