A Strong Powerful Earthquake of 6.8 magnitude struck Pakistan and the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border in the Hindukush region. The earthquake happened at 3:58pm IST and it went on for several minutes. Its epicentre lay 39 km from Ashkasham and 282 km northeast of Kabul, in Afghanistan.




The tremors were felt in North India, especially in Delhi. A data from European Mediterranean Seismological Centre reads that the impact was strongest across a 200 km area. As per reports, tremors were also felt in Kashmir and Uttarakhand. The metro rail service in Delhi was stopped immediately due to this earthquake.

This happened as a precautionary measure. A source in Pakistan said that strong tremors were felt in Peshawar, Chitral, Swat, Gilgit, Faisalabad and Lahore. However no loss of life or property were reported due to this earthquake. Keep watching this space for more updates.
