Supreme Court has allowed National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for medical courses across the country. Common Entrance Test for admissions to MBBS, BDS and PG courses in all medical colleges was quelled.

A review petition on NEET came for hearing and finally Supreme Court said, "Till a clear matter is decided, NEET can be implemented." Earlier in June 2013, The Supreme Court ruled that Medical Council of India (MCI)'s notification for holding common entrance tests for MBBS, BDS and post-graduate medical courses as invalid.

Court also ruled that Medical Council of India doesn't have jurisdiction to enforce common entrance test (CET) on private medical colleges. However now this has once again opened debates. This movie can also violate constitutional guarantee to minority communities. This news has shell shocked most of them.

This judgement was delivered by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir (now retired) by a 2-1 division. However, this is a good move as it would stop corrupt practice that allowed undeserving students to get admissions just by paying extra fee under the name of donations.
