The Center has currently consented to do a five layer brief plan to completely stop infiltration on the 2900 km western border with Pakistan and it has also entailed the surveillance for 24 hours through sophisticated technology which will come in effect and it will entirely “lock” India’s western border to eradicate Pathonkot like terror attacks and also smuggling.
The track all the movements from the other side of the border CCTV Cameras, thermal image and night vision devices, battlefield surveillance radar, underground monitoring sensors and laser barriers will be placed along the border. The set up will be an integrated one, whereas when one doesn’t work the other will alert the control room in case of a transgression.
The laser barrier alone will cover 130 unfenced sections which include remote riverine and mountain area from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat. Senior home ministry officials have told that CIBMS will also render their helping hands to catch those who help in infiltration from the Indian side of the border as the radars will have 360 degree coverage and the cameras will work 24 hours looking on both the sides.
Ministry sources have told that the TOI that works on two pilot projects on stretches of 5 km distance, one in Punjab and another in Jammu and Kashmir has commenced after issuing a global tender which was released two weeks ago. The government plans to cover the entire border with "technological surveillance"
