DMK Chief M.Karunanidhi has released a election manifesto and in that he has promised to cut down Aavin Milk by Rs.7 a litre. Now among all other promises in election manifesto, this one has created a buzz among Lower-middle class families.

A resident of Anna Nagar, Mr.John Mathews said, "This reduction will definitely help us. For instance, if a family gets three litres a day, it can save Rs.650 per month. This is like a freebie in disguise for BPL (Below Poverty Line) families."

However on another consumers are worried about Quality of Milk. Leela Anbu from Virugambaakam said, "When we make curd, it never come out the same at all times. This is common due to the difference in fat content in the milk. Milk is something which we give to our Children and we can't compromise on the quality."

Industry observers said the reduction in selling cost can push Aavin back into 'Loss' mode and this will affect rural economy. Dairy farmers said that during DMK's last regime they were not paid for several months. Despite all the pros and cons, this promise has created a huge buzz in Tamil Nadu.
