A day after the DMK has discharged the list of candidates for the assembly elections, protests have broken in Anaicut constituency in Vellore district, three constituencies in Tiruchy and one constituency in Pudukottai district regarding the choice of the nominees.


The protest has prompted the DMK President Karunanidhi to issue a statement making an appeal to the cadres to sink their differences and work for the party’s triumph. The dissenting cadres at Anaicut have roughed up the candidate A.P. NandhaKumar and former MP T.A. Mohammad Saqhy.


Soon after Nandhakumar’s candidature was declared on Wednesday, some cadres has blocked the Anaicut-Odugathur road demanding that he has to be replaced with the Anaicut West Union Secretary M.Babu.


On Thursday the cadres have roughed up Mr. Nandhakumar by prompting him and his supporters to lock themselves inside the party office and the DMK’s Vellore district Presidium Chairman was also manhandled. The DMK President has penned to the cadres to cool the tempers has told that small internal differences must not be allowed to stand in the way of party’s victory and the governance has to work for the welfare of the Tamil people.
