As per the latest fact, the 400 government schools in the in the new state of Telangana, have zero enrolment and the Supreme Court has sought a report from an expert’s panel that has asked the reason for non participation of children.


The apex court’s concern has come after Telangana has made an information that nearly 18,139 primary schools of it 398 have zero enrolment, 980 schools have just 1-10 students and 2333 schools have just 11-20 students during the accounting year 2015-2016.


A Bench which was headed by Justice Dipak Misra has stated that an educational institution without any student is like an individual without health and life without essence or purpose of living. Right to education has been made as a fundamental right for everyone. The state has to see whether the children between the ages 1 to 14 are imparted education.


As per the affidavit which was filed by Telangana, it has stated that a school with zero or one strength has to be given two teachers and it was also said that there is greater migration from government to private schools as parents are demanding English medium schools which was not available in government school. Presently there is no intention of closing the schools which has low attendance.
