Renowned bollywood actor Aamir Khan is going to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on 16th of July i.e. tomorrow, in order to bring to the notice of the P.M, the plight of the 3 lakh manual scavengers in the country. It is known to many that he took up this issue of the manual scavengers, in one of his TV show episodes, named ‘satya Mev Jayate.’  It is fine that at least now; one person has taken upon himself the task of highlighting the destitute condition of these people, who live on the sidelines of the society. This manual scavenging is a tragic relic of the times past, which still persists, in our country, which is supposed to be making into the ranks of the super powers of the world. This as well points out the failure of our ruling parties, in delivering the people of the country, even the barest minimum, over more than 6 decades of our achieving independence.  It is not just this problem of manual scavenging, which of course is one of the worst scourges, that does torment Indian masses, but innumerable issues like the lack of portable drinking water and other minimum needs mar their daily lives. For example, about 2500-3000 tribals are dying in the state of A.P, every year due to curable diseases like the Diarrhea the malaria.  Thus one joke that circulates among our people; tells that we have two India’s: One is the USA like part of it (Posh and prosperous) the other is the African part of it (Starving and struggling.) i still remind a cartoon that was published in a Telugu daily, when Rajiv Gandhi is trying to introduce computers in India. It depicts Rajiv; importing the computer on a bullock cart...That is it...we have two India’s: A bullock cart India and an India that glows up with its corporate looks. Nobody could object to the introduction of the computers in to India. But what each of us wishes to ensure that is, even the bullock cart India too is given an opportunity to upgrade itself to the heights of the living standards that are available to the few elite now, at least in terms of good education, health care and food that is nutritious... this is what poor and destitute Indian’s do wish to get from those politicians sitting in Delhi and dreaming of the ‘Super power’ Status that might be bestowed on us by the Americans.  Good, Aamir Khan made the first move to show this other India of the poor and the destitute, in one of its shades now i.e. in the form of representing the issue of the manual scavengers to the rulers in Delhi...Let all the thinking Indians give him a big hand!!!
