22% voters exercised their franchise in the first two hours of polling for the fourth phase of West Bengal Assembly elections today. The voting started by 7 am and there was 21.87% voter turnout for the 49 seats. Reports from West Bengal said that the Polling is happening peaceful and there has been no mishap so far.


The phase is crucial as it will decide the fate of several ministers - Finance Minister Amit Mitra, Agriculture Minister Purnendu Basu, Law Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya, Tourism Minister Bratya Basu, Food and Supplies Minister Jyotipriyo Mullick and Agriculture Marketing Minister Aroop Roy.


There was little tension in Howrah district as BJP contestant Roopa Ganguly acused the Presiding officer for being biased. But things turned normal soon. An estimated 1.08 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 345 candidates, including 40 women.


Right from 7am, Voters were seen in queue before 12.5k polling stations as the sun might trouble them as the day progresses. The temperature readed 40.2 Degrees yesterday.
