Mumbai Court today dropped charges against eight Muslim men who were accused of carrying out bomb blasts that killed 31 people in Maharashtra's Malegaon in 2006. The 8 Muslim men spent five years in Jail before they were granted bail in 2011. The National Investigation Agency took over the case immediately.


They also confessed that they were tormented by Police to make confessions. Noor Ul Juda who got released today said, "I was subjected to third degree torture for 80 days to sign a false confession." Another person Mr.Huda who is 34 Years old said, "It is a huge relief to be exonerated by High court."


Malegaon blasts were first investigated by Maharashtra's anti-terror squad or ATS, which had arrested nine Muslim men and they said the men belonged to banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).


The ATS also said they carried out the blasts along with help of Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar e Taiba. Case was later handed over to CBI and then NIA (National Investigation Agency) took over the case in 2011.
