There was a talk in Telangana Congress camp that high command might
be taking up a complete overhaul of the unit in Telangana State and
fill most posts with young blood, so that they can be going to polls in
the year 2019 with vigour. The changes are being seen now.
It
was expected that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi might make
former MP and currently MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy as the next PCC
chief. Senior leaders like Digvijay Singh also seem to have preferred
Rajagopal Reddy for the PCC chief post by May 2017.
However,
there are rumours that the high command has least interest in
revitalizing itself in Telangana. It may retain Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy
as its PCC chief and in fact he may be leading the Congress party here
until the next general elections in 2019.
Rahul
Gandhi’s message was clear that this PCC body will be in place for the
next general elections. This is seen as a rude shock to Komatireddy
Rajagopal Reddy, who withstood TRS wave to win an MLC seat. Once he
starts sulking, some feel TRS will come and poach him.
