On Tuesday evening a 48-year-old man slashed his own tongue at Telangana secretariat and he was allegedly angered by officials’ apathy to his application seeking pension under a government scheme for handicapped.

The Saifabad Police Station Inspector K Poorna Chander has stated that Raja Chary who had applied for pension went to B Block at the secretariat around 4 pm and after coming out, he took out a blade and suddenly slashed his tongue.

Chander has also added that his tongue has not been cut-off and had suffered injuries resulting in bleeding and the security personnel has immediately shifted him to a nearby hospital and his condition is out of danger.

The inspector has also added that same way, Raja who is a resident of Suraram colony in Jeedimetla, had suffered burn injuries and subsequently applied for pension under handicapped category and however it was also not sanctioned. Raja has blamed the officials alleging that nobody has responded to his application for pension forcing him to resort to the act.
