The Congress on Wednesday has released its own election manifesto despite being in the DMK alliance and has also promised a new noon meal scheme for the elderly in all villages and monthly stipend for the jobless.


People who are above the age of sixty in the rural areas would be brought under the mid-day meal scheme to ensure that the scourge of starvation was removed once and for all and the manifesto was drafted by a committed headed by former Union Minister Sudarsana Natchiappan and consisted of several leaders including A. Gopanna, Manicka Tagore and national spokesperson C.R. Kesavan.


The party has said that over 90 Lakhs persons have registered in the employment exchange in the State and to support those waiting for jobs a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,000 for graduates, Rs. 500 for those who have completed Plus Two, Rs. 300 for SSLC and Rs 200 for others would be provided.


As per the manifesto the support wage for fishermen during the 45 ban between April 15 and June 1 would be increased to Rs. 6,750 per month and the salt pan workers would be given monetary support of Rs. 3,000 per month in the off season and free houses.
