The officials have told that the elite serviceman named as Charlie Keating IV was killed by "direct fire" after IS militants penetrated the Kurdish Peshmerga line on Tuesday morning and the Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said the Navy Seal was advising and assisting Peshmerga forces when they came under attack between two and three miles behind the front line.
The official has also told that the 31 year old has died as Islamic State militants blasted through Kurdish defenses and overran a town in the biggest offensive in the area for months and an US military official has said the coalition had helped the peshmerga by conducting more than 20 air strikes with F-15 jets and drones.
The US Vice President Joe Biden has visited Baghdad last week to push leaders in the Iraqi government to resolve internal political strife and concentrate on defeating IS. It is the third death of a US service member since the US-led coalition operation which has begun against IS in 2014.
In March, a US Marine has stationed at Makhmour base outside Mosul was killed in a rocket attack and a special operations soldier was killed in a firefight in October 2015 during a raid on an IS prison in Iraq.
