A total of 196 companies of personnel from Border Security Force (BSF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) would reach the allotted constituencies in the next few days for deployment in constituencies for election duty.


The Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni has earlier said he was planning to ask for 300 companies, since there was an increase in the number of polling booths this year compared to 2011 Assembly polls and the Election Commission has been planning to deploy over 275 companies of paramilitary personnel in 234 constituencies across the State. 


According to the EC, a total of 240 companies of paramilitary troops were deployed in 54,315 polling booths during the 2011 elections. The number of booths has increased to 65,616 booths this year. Meanwhile, senior EC officials have held a meeting here on Tuesday to review the arrangements for the elections.


The Ex-Servicemen was also deployed for election bandobust duty and would be given a daily allowance and a total of 3,785 candidates, including 320 women are in the final fray to contest in 234 constituencies in the State. The results are scheduled to be declared on May 19.
