The Congress Party has issued a whip to all of its members in the
Rajya Sabha to be present and vote in favour of a private member bill
for Andhra Pradesh’s Special Status. The party is reportedly taking this
as a serious chance for making a comeback in Andhra Pradesh.
Congress
is reportedly talking to other partners in UPA for voting in favour of
the bill. If the bill is indeed passed, it will become a major
embarrassment for BJP , the ruling party at the Center. It is all the
more curious to see what is the stand by TDP on this issue.
Voting
for Congress’ MP’s bill will definitely not go well with PM Narendra
Modi and again not voting or abstaining from this will again send wrong
signals to the people of AP state. The BJP seems to have more or less
given a lifeline for AP Congress which had been reduced to zero.
The
Center has recently clarified that the state of Andhra Pradesh doesn’t
qualify for Special Status. Well it is an irony that it is the same BJP
which had batted for 10 years tenure for Special Status at a time when
the Congress had promised it for only 5 years. That's how politics
works.
