The Telangana state governance has reminded the Centre that the state has received just Rs, 712 crore as against the actual requirement of Rs. 3,064 crore, Telangana has demanded that the Union government to release the balance amount immediately and on Tuesday the state governance has urged the Centre to release Rs. 2,300 crore for drought relief in the state. 


On Tuesday the Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and has apprised the prime minister of the severe drought condition in the state and the measures his government has taken.


The chief minister has informed Modi that Nizamabad, Medak, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar districts were among the worst hit, while 231 mandals in seven districts have been drought hit as the state below 14% of normal rain fall.


KCR has given the details of Mission Kakatiya, the scheme to revive 46,000 water bodies in the state, Mission Bhagiratha, the scheme envisaging piped drinking water to all households in Telangana, and Harita Haram, a forestation scheme to plant 230 crore saplings and he has urged the prime minister to release Rs. 227 crore immediately to take up temporary relief measures.
