On Saturday the DMK leader M. Karunanidhi has said that he would not resort to vendetta politics if he became the Chief Minister of the State even though there was an attempt to kill him on the night he was arrested by the AIADMK government in June 2001.

Mr. Karunanidhi has said that his way of settling scores with the AIADMK government would be to revive and implement the good schemes initiated by his previous DMK government, which were discarded by the AIADMK regime.

Mr. Karunanidhi has said that the DMK was not just a political outfit, but a social movement and its founder C.N. Annadurai had never inculcated the idea of hatred in his followers and the DMK’s objective is to protect the culture of Tamils and always take along all sections of the society irrespective of their religion and caste.

Mr. Karunanidhi has told that the DMK would win the elections and there would be a change of regime and it will provide good governance and he has sought to dispel the notion that he would always end his campaign in the Chepauk constituency owing to sentiment and luck.
