The Tamil Nadu Chief Election Officer Rajesh Lakhoni, while speaking in a press conference has told the final figure of the State's voter turnout will be known only by 8 p.m and Dharmapuri and Salem districts recorded the highest polling while Chennai voters turned up the least in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections conducted on Monday.


The highest turnout was recorded from Edappadi and Pennagaram constituencies (85 per cent) while the lowest was in Harbor (53 p.c.) and Villivakkam (54 p.c.) while polling concluded in most booths, it is still on in others. 


Lakhoni has told that in hill areas, the voting ended and the voter turnout are still awaited and early in the morning, some of the EVMs were changed due to malfunctioning and the polling was by and large peaceful.


Mr. Lakhoni has said that three tier securities will be up at the counting centers and CCTV cameras will be monitoring the EVM strong rooms and the EVMs will be sealed in front of the polling agents and will be taken to the counting centers.
