A PIL has been filed in the Madras high court seeking a joint probe by the Election Commission, the Reserve Bank of India and the Enforcement Directorate into the mystery amidst raging debates shrouding three trucks that were found to be carrying Rs 570 crore in cash when they were intercepted by election officials in Tirupur district on May 14.


The container carrying trucks were seized by officials on May 14, a couple of days ahead of the assembly election and the trucks were parked in open ground abutting the Tirupur district collectorate till Monday night, there were rumors that it was part of a huge pile of illegal money being shifted to secret locations.


On Tuesday a social activist K R 'Traffic' Ramaswamy has filed the PIL seeking a direction to the Election Commission, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to consider his representation dated May 15, and pass orders with regard to the seizure of Rs 570 crore.


The PIL has said that though a representation seeking a proper inquiry and follow up action in the matter were sent to RBI, ED and Election Commission authorities on May 15 and there was no response for the same.
