As many as 500 personnel 144 paramilitary personnel and the rest consisting of local police have been posted for round-the-clock security duty at the IRTT Engineering College where voters polled in six constituencies Erode East, Erode West, Modakurichi, Anthiyur, Bhavani, and Perundurai will be counted on Thursday.


At the Gobi Arts and Science College, the counting center for Bhavani Sagar and Gobichettipalayam segments, 200 policemen, including 50 paramilitary personnel, have been posted and a good number of CCTV cameras have been installed at both the centers and a micro observer has been posted for each of the 120 counting desks. 


The process has begun with counting of postal votes and a technician of Bharat Electronics Limited will be at standby for each of the eight Assembly constituencies to attend to mechanical snags in EVMs.


The sealed rooms containing EVMs will be opened in the presence of central observers and the process slated for start at 8 a.m. will get over in five hours time and about 3.75 Lakhs voters, mostly those from rural parts, did not turn up this time, out of 18,21,627 voters.
