Presently Mercedes is the hardest hit among its peers as the Supreme Court ban on registration of diesel vehicles with engines of 2,000 cc and above since last December has forced the German luxury car maker to take its vehicles off the Delhi NCR market.

No diesel variant of Mercedes has been registered in the past five months since most are strapped with bigger 2,143 cc engines, which in turn has given rivals like Audi and BMW edge in Delhi the largest luxury car market accounting for more than 25% of 35,000 units sold a year.

On Wednesday the Mercedes India managing director and chief executive officer Roland Folger has told the media on the sidelines of the launch of the new GLS 350 d, its latest addition to the luxury sport utility vehicle portfolio.

India's credibility is going to drive investment and in order to stay ahead of the game and make use of the economic environment; it would be good if we have long term solutions that help us to provide that kind of growth.
