Apple Inc., Chief Tim Cook met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier today and he concluded his four day trip to India. His visit could set  the stage for Apple's expansion plans in one of the world's fastest growing smartphone markets. Indian Prime Minister Modi and Cook met for an hour in Central Delhi and they discussed plans about setting Apple manfucaturing and retailing inside the country.

Apple is looking to expand its retail presence in India and is pursuing a licence to set up its own stores which could open next year. Indian Officials said Apple is keen to make products inside the country and this could be a boost to Modi's 'Make in India' manufacturing push.

This visit of Tim Cook came at a crucial time and Apple looks for new growth markets. More than 100 million smartphones were sold in India last year and sales are expected to grow 25 per cent this year, but Apple only has about a 2 per cent share of the market.

Tim Cook also met heads of India's largest companies such as harti Airtel and lender ICICI Bank. He also took time to visit temple and dine with Bollywood celebrities and watch Cricket.
