On Tuesday a woman has died and at least 15 pilgrims were injured when a private bus from Guntur with more than 40 persons on board overturned at Jajpur near Cuttack of Odisha in the wee hours and all the passengers hail from Guntur, Narasaraopeta and its surrounding areas.


According to SP J Brahma Reddy, a group of pilgrims from Rompicherla and Narasaraopeta of Guntur district had started their journey on May 21 and the tourist bus was on a religious tour to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and it was learnt that the bus with a capacity of 26 passengers was packed with 40 pilgrims.


The chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has asked director general of police JV Ramudu to send a team from the state to help out the victims following the instructions, a police team from Palasa was headed for Odisha to help the victims.


The Railway SI K Madhusudhana Rao has said that the deceased aged around 26 years was found dead on the platform at 8 am, with a lump of froth in her mouth and they have suspected that the deceased was from Odisha and she might have consumed some poisonous drug and it might be a case of suicide.
