The BJP leader Vijay Jolly has requested the Taiwanese government to establish a statue and a memorial for Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose because he was last seen alive in that country and Jolly has attended the swearing-in ceremony of Taiwan's new president the first woman leader to hold that position in the country.

Jolly has also presented a book on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the new president, and has met other Taiwanese leaders including foreign minister David Yung-Lo Lin and he has invited Taiwan to use its technological strengths to participate in "Make In India" and "Digital India" programs.

China regards Taiwan as part of its own territory although there is a democratically-elected government in Taipei and the country has an independent currency and Beijing is extremely sensitive to any move by Taiwan to develop relationship with other countries.

Jolly has also added that whatever the diplomatic issues between China and Taiwan, it is a true and historical fact that our great leader was last seen alive in Taiwan and there should be no objection from any quarter if a memorial is built for Netaji in Taiwan.
