Whenever academic year starts parents always face problem of fees hike in almost all schools. With no rules, school managements increase fees exorbitantly. Management and Government nexus leave parents high and dry. If they oppose parents and kids will be subjected to various insults.
Parents many times protested against school fees hikes but their protests gone into deaf years. Parents formed Joint Action Committee for School Fee Regulation and have been organising protests and recently organsed dharna in front of the Directorate of School Education office protesting unregulated fee hikes by private schools.
Their protests didnot get any response from the Government and now they are planning a `maha dharna` on June 11 at dharna chowk in Indira Park, bringing in more than 5,000 parents, from districts as well.
Aravind Jata,JAC member said "The school commissioner said that he is trying his best to solve the issue but then his area of operation is limited. We want to know whom we should approach next, if he is unable to do anything,“
Ashish Naredi from Hyderabad School Parents Association (HSPA) says “The commissioner had cal led for a meeting between school management association and JAC SFR but did not say anything conclusive. To us it seems nothing more than a delaying tactic. We have petitioned and filed cases in court but the government is just not moving at all.There's hardly any action other than lip service,“
While Delhi Government headed by Aravind Kejriwal cracked the whip on private schools charging exorbitant fees and even announced a toll free number for parents to register their complaints, Telangana government headed by CM KCR is remaining silent.
A parent whose child studies at Kakatiya Vidyaniketan school,Mehdipatnam says My wife sold her mangalsutra to pay school fees last year, I may have to sell my kidney to pay fees this year.“ Many others too echoed the same anguish. JAC-SFR in a statement said “In case we question the school managements, they become unapproachable and arrogant.Children of protesting parents are targeted and harassed,“
