Sources have stated that the Greater Chennai Corporation is offering residencies to young medical graduates to offset the shortfall and the civic body has as many as 767 vacancies, including 64 posts of medical officer, in its health wing. After trying its hand at recruiting and failing abjectly, the corporation outsourced doctors.
The corporation has first tried employment exchanges and then has turned to the medical recruitment board to hire doctors. Most doctors, after all, turned down job offers with the civic body.
