Anisur Rahman Dhaka who is a senior  Indian diplomat today visited a Hindu ashram in northwestern Bangladesh where an elderly worker was brutally murdered with a machete. This is second murder in minority community within a week.


Nithiyarajan (60) was working as a volunteer for past 40 years at Thakur Anukul Chandra Satsanga Paramtirtha Hemayetpurdham Ashram, was murdered this morning in Pabnas Hemayetpur Upazila.  Local inmates confirmed that he was struck bad on the hea dand neck with machete and he died on the spot.


Assistant High Commissioner Sandip Mitra of Assistant High Commission of India in Rajshahi city visited the ashram and spoke to officials and priests. The monastery is named after a famous Hindu saint and it attracts more devotees across Bangladesh.


Two officials from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka had visited the home of the murdered priest in Koratipara village of Jhenaidah and met his family members day before yesterday. From May 1st, Bangladesh witnessed 8 such brutal murders on religious minorities.
