Here comes a day before elections for 57 Rajya Sabha seats in 15 states and with a contest in at least six states, political parties are scrambling to keep their flocks together. Despite rumours of horse-trading, cross voting, and switching of loyalties, all parties are striving hard to keep their flock together.

As Opposition outnumbers government in the Upper House, stakes in the current elections are high, with the ruling BJP attempting to hike its figures. Also the numbers in Rajya Sabha has forced Modi Government to go slow. Congress who is the main Opposition has rished senior leaders  to four state capitals as observers to keep tabs on their MLAs and garner the support needed for the party candidates to win.

Former Union home Minister Sushil Kumar has been moved to Bhopal and senior Supreme Court advocate Vivek Tankha is just one vote short of straight win in the first round. Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said, "We have clearly made our plans and we conveyed our message to the elctoral college in both these States and come tomorrow evening."
