Sources from Delhi have stated that five men were convicted of abducting, robbing and raping a 52 year old Danish woman here in 2014 were sentenced to life imprisonment till death by a trial court on Friday and the men have behaved "inhumanly" to satisfy their lust.
The additional sessions Judge Ramesh Kumar has said that the convicts are Indians and despite knowing the philosophy 'atithi devo bhava' (guests are god) and yatra nari pujyante, tatra ramante devta (god dwells there where woman are worshipped), they committed such a crime, where she was treated like an animal just for satisfying their lust.
The judge has added that the case was cracked within the shortest possible time which would definitely strengthen the belief of tourists, in the judicial system of the country and apart from the jail term, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs 81,000 each on Raju and Raju Chakka, Rs 91,000 each on Mahender and Mohd Raja and Rs 1,01,000 on Arjun respectively.
It is also stated that there was another accused in the case, 56year old Shyam Lal, but he has died during the trial and proceedings against him were abated.
