Bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh left lot of acrimony between both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The way the then UPA government headed by Congress divided the state of Andhra Pradesh without taking into consideration the genuine grievances of the people and passing the bill by closing the doors of the Parliament led to many ugly scenes like Lagadapati Rajagopal carrying pepper spray into the house.
Many suspected Congress president Sonia Gandhi expecting political gains in Telangana to make her son Rahul Gandhi,the Prime Minister and also reign in growing support for YS.Rajasekhar Reddy's son YS.Jagan could be the reason behind the insensitive manner in which the state was divided before the elections.
Now Congress leader Jairam Ramesh who played a key role in the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, penned a book 'Old History - New Geography - Bifurcating Andhra Pradesh' revealed the secret behind the division. He stated had Chandra Babu rewarded KCR with plump portfolio in his cabinet,he wouldn't have started Telangana movement.
He also said YSR's sudden demise changed the entire political situation in Andhra Pradesh and added KCR's deteriorating health during his fast unto death in 2009 forced the UPA government to take decision in favour of bifurcation. He said even Chandra Babu's two letters in favour of bifurcation made the then government to take favourable decision.
He however confessed that Congress suffered a lot with bifurcation and never anticipated such a rout in Telangana and Andhra Praresh in 2014 elections. Surprisingly he stopped talking about Special Status but questioned Venkaiah Naidu on the issue.
