Earlier on Tuesday the Madras high court has called for a status report on the mysterious death of S. Subramaniam, who was studying at an engineering college owned by actor turned politician Vijayakanth's family, after his father has alleged that it was a case of murder and not electrocution.

Justice P N Prakash has said that he has issued the interim directions on Tuesday, after P Seeralan, father of third year mechanical engineering student at Shri Andal Azhagar College of Engineering in Mamandur, has moved the court seeking a CB-CID probe into his son's death and the report shall be filed by July 12th.

It was pointed out that just five days prior to the incident, Sudheesh had abused his son in filthy language and has threatened him with dire consequences if he has canvassed for PMK, Seeralan has said Subramaniam's sudden death had given rise to a suspicion that it was not a natural death.

Seeralan said his son was bold and good in studies as well as extracurricular activities and he has said that he had no faith in the local police as they were ineffective and incoherent in their investigation from the beginning.
