Many were asked what made them visit the book fair in this hot sun with their child, they said that since Sunday was their only available holiday they came early so they could spend more time at the fair. Pugalenthi Mohanakrishnan has said that the significant aspects of this year’s fair were the presence of a large number of children, and as one parent.

It is stated that the Chennai book fair with more than 1.5 million visitors is one of the largest fairs in India, while a few states has struggled to conduct the annual book fair in their capital city itself, Tamil Nadu fairs are conducted in many districts, and everywhere it has proved successful.

Tamil Nadu is the first state that enacted the Public Libraries Act in Independent India. It came into force with effect from April 1, 1950 and annually, an average income of Rs 150 crore is generated for library services and the revenue can be used to help conduct book fairs and subsidize venue cost.

It is added that book fairs can also be conducted at all the district headquarters with assistance from local administration and similar to the permanent book fair established by the government adjacent to the Museum at Egmore, permanent book fairs at other cities can also be established.
