Sources have stated that Congress high command is moving steps to remove Digvijay Singh as the in charge of Telangana Congress. Digvijay Singh is the center of several controversies during the separate state agitation and could not help Congress in AP as well as Telangana and two years after the state division, Congress is dead in AP and is on ventilator in Telangana.

Meanwhile Congress high command is bringing in, former Kerala Chief Minister, Oomen Chandy as the new in-charge for Telangana Congress. Oomen Chandy just lost Assembly elections in Kerala and is now being deployed to repair Telangana Congress.

It is stated that the party is on the verge of losing its Opposition Status. The Party won 21 seats in the last elections and got the main opposition status in the state Assembly and out of the 21, two MLAs have expired and the party has lost these seats in the by-elections and so far seven Congress MLAs have joined TRS, reducing its strength to 12.

According to the numbers in Telangana Assembly, a party should win at least 12 MLA seats to become the main opposition and if Congress loses one more MLA, it will lose the status.
