Sources from Hyderabad have stated that a large number of engineering colleges lost out on affiliation for the academic year 2016-17 and in a press note issued late on evening on Sunday, JNTU registrar N. Yadaiah has said 158 engineering colleges were given affiliation with this the number of seats available for B.Tech first year students will be 79,705 seats.


Meanwhile the university has also given affiliation to 46 pharmacy colleges with 4,000 seats and in all 360 private colleges including 241 engineering, 89 pharmacies and 30 MBA colleges had applied for affiliation from the JNTU.


It is stated that the web options process for Eamcet rankers will commence from July 5 and following the grant of affiliation, computer science engineering has the most seats on offer at 21,930.


Sources have added that this is followed by 21,798 seats for electronics and communication engineering, 12,345 for mechanical, 10,363 seats for electronics and electrical and 9,999 seats for civil engineering.
