The ambitious scheme of Telangana government to build lakhs of two-bedroom houses is still unable to take off. It has been more than 2 years since the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had made his poll promise of building free houses for the poor.

According to official sources, there are many hurdles for the programme and teething troubles. So far only around 396 houses which the government had distributed to beneficiaries in IDH Colony of Secunderabad last year indicated progress. After that, nothing happened.
Erravelli kcr Adopted village
Nearly 280 houses at Erravelli, about 3,000 houses in Mahabubnagar followed by another 500 in Warangal are only under construction. There were foundation stones laid in few assembly constituencies and people are waiting for the project to come up.
There is no dearth of funds but there seems to be no enthusiasm among contractors to build these houses, especially as there has been no consensus over the cost of construction. This would also mean they cannot make much money in this project. It may take more efforts to realize this promise!
