App-based cab services are most preferred by women these days. But at times, they just are a menace too. Vilasini Ramani has faced an unpleasant experience and now this has raised serious concerns about the safety of women in Chennai.
Ms.Vilasini Ramani who is a city based publisher said, "The driver was just going fast and I asked him to slow down. He shouted back at me and said he will not slow down as he needs to complete certain number of trips before a stipulated time. He also asked me to get down if I had a problem with his driving.
As I got scared, I tried to get out of the car near Anna University campus and hail an Auto. But he refused to leave me. He demanded me to pay money. When I refused to pay stating that he had asked me to get down and had not dropped me at my destination, he abused me and threatened to slit my throat.
The cab driver never left and even when I was seated in my auto, he made few inappropriate gestures and refused to apologize." Ms.Ramani shared this on her Facebook wall and it got a huge response.
