Devipatnam sources have stated that Godavari River is in spate and as a result, 28 villages in four mandals have lost connectivity in East Godavari district and about 18 villages out of the 28, have lost connectivity as Sabari, a rivulet of Godavari River and are in spate after heavy rains in catchment areas in Maharashtra.


It is stated that officials have reached all 28 villages and have appealed to the tribal to move to safer places as the water levels may rise further and in Jinnelagudem village of Koonavaram mandal, about 200 cattle were surrounded by rising water.

Meanwhile the rescue personnel have reached the spot and some of the causeways in Konaseema have seen heavy vehicle traffic and movement on both sides was stopped after heavy inflows to the River and at Chakalipalem in P. Gannavaram mandal, which connects East and West Godavari, vehicles are stranded since early hours of Tuesday.


Sources have told officials that the river which was at 49.5 feet at Bhadrachalam on Monday evening has risen to 53 feet by Tuesday morning and the water level at Dhawaleswaram barrage was 13 feet around 12 noon on Tuesday.
