Hyderabad sources have stated that ongoing probe has suggested that many cops use home guards as orderlies at home assigning the most menial tasks possible to them and the plight of home guards has come to the fore after allegations were made recently against Ranga Reddy superintendent of police B Naveen Kumar.
It is stated that instead of being posted to handle law and order situation and to help at police stations, are increasingly being used at offices and houses for private use in Hyderabad.
Telangana home guard association member have stated that many officers use home guards for cooking, washing clothes, cleaning houses, running errands and also to take care of children and there are some horrible cases where no home guard wants to work.
Meanwhile in Telangana, officers of IG level and above are assigned at least five home guards to take care of work at home and office, excluding drivers and the ACP-rank officers have two drivers and one or two assisting home guards.
