In this regard, all the major hurdles for the runway’s expansion is now complete and once work begins soon, the airport can handle even bigger planes like Airbus A 320. The district administration has completed the process of land acquisition and it is being handed over this month end to the AAI.
After the first phase of runway expansion, the new runway will extend to 3,025 meters from the current level of 2,286. This will be costing nearly 150 crores and once expanded, there will be extensive parking bays as well! This would ensure all visitors from outside land directly at Gannavaram.
