Afghanistan is the most strategic region in the world and many nations try to dictate terms by having a Government friendly and supportive towards its interests in Afghanistan. This resulted in USA and Russia supporting Pakistan and India strategically. US and Russia even aided mercenaries to gain supremacy.
This resulted in increase in terrorism. Pakistan for long grew envious of India's hold in Afghanistan and started funding terror groups to target Indian interests in Afghanistan. Afghanistan envoy to UN today blasted Paksitan government saying LeT, the Taliban, JeM and al-Qaida based at Pakistan are targeting Indian interests in Afghan creating sanctuaries and safe havens in tribal areas between Kabul and Islamabad.
UN permanent Afghan representative Mahmoud Saikal talking at the open briefing of the counter-terrorism committee on foreign terrorists said Lashkar-e-Taiba, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, Jaish-e-Mohammad, al-Qaida and Lashkar-e-Islam, Sipah-e-Sahaba, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, Eastern Turkistan Islamic movement pose a strategic threat to the security and stability of Afghanistan.
He said there are 6,100 foreign fighters in Afghanistan, based mainly in eastern and north-eastern provinces. Among them about 1,800-2,000 have pledged allegiance to the ISIS.
