Navjot Singh Sidhu who gained popularity as 'Sixers Sidhu' for his attacking play as cricketer later attracted all with his commentary and participating in reality shows. He later entered politics and became BJP MP. But for the last few days he hogged the media limelight by disappearing after resigning as Rajya Sabha MP in the wake of upcoming Punjab elections next year.

Many expected him to join Aravind Kejriwal's AAP which is expected to win the Punjab elections. Kejriwal jubilantly welcomed Sidhu into the party fold but Sidhu gave shock to Kejriwal by going missing. Entire media wondered where Sidhu was.

Finally he appeared in media today and claimed that he was asked to stay away from Punjab and this was the reason why he quit Rajya Sabha as MP. He questioned "How can I leave the people who voted me in four times,"  and added "I was asked to stay away from Punjab. How can I quit my roots? The first time can be a mistake. But this is the fourth time it is happening...it was hard to take in,"

He said he is willing to face the consequences and no party in the world is bigger than Punjab. He said Vaijpayee wave made him win the elections in 2004 from Amritsar, with in 14 days of notice after receiving phone call from former PM Vajpayee and added Modi wave came and it sank not only the opposition but also Sidhu. He resigned with in three months after Modi led BJP government nominated him for the Rajya Sabha.

Sidhu still is yet to explain the real reason behind his resignation. His wife Navjot Kaur, BJP member said Sidhu quitting RS meant that he was quitting BJP.
