Hyderabad sources have stated that as per Medical Council of India's (MCI) Regulations on Graduate Medical Education (RGME), 1997, the last date up to which first-year MBBS students can be admitted to a college is August 31st.


The MCI member Dr K Ramesh Reddy has said that till last year, the last date for first-year MBBS admissions in medical colleges used to be September 30 as mentioned in Appendix E of RGME and this rule was amended in January 2016, advancing the admissions deadline to August 31st through a notification in Gazette of India.


Meanwhile Dr B Karunakar Reddy has told TOI that the last date for completing admissions is September 30th as listed by the MCI in its RGME on page 10 and has asked about the latest amendment to RGME fixing the deadline as August 31st.


The MCI member Dr K Ramesh Reddy has told the date used to be Sept 30th till last year as mentioned in Appendix E of RGME, but the rule was amended in January 2016, advancing the deadline to Aug 31st.
