Terrorists opened fire in north east state of Assam leaving 14 killed and 15 injured according to the latest information. Terrorists fried indiscriminately at a weekly market at  Balajan Tinali, Kokrajhar in Assam. Security forces exchanged fire and gunned down one terrorist. 


Security forces recovered an AK 47 from the dead terrorist and the intense gun battle lasted for around 20 minutes. Government rushed additional forces to fight the terrorists who lobbed a grenade which demolished some shops.


National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit), or NDFB (S) is suspected to be behind the attack according to Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay. Assam CM Sarabananda Sonowal called PM Modi and apprise him of the situation. 


The sudden firing on people in a broad day light at a public place is the first of its kind and sent shock waves across the state. Terror strike shocked as securtiy has been tightened on the eve of Independence Day. Terrorists are suspected to belong to a Bodo outfit, that had issued a threat to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) recently.
