Politicians always behave in a insensitive manner. Many times they came with shocking statements to insult women. They forget that they are in responsible positions and come with irresponsible and insensitive statements when atrocities are increasing in leaps and bounds. Even after the horrendous Nirbhaya incident, they didnot mend their ways.
What is shocking is they trivialise rapes and come in support of the rapists insulting the rape victims. People expect women politicians to be sensitive to their gender. However what is more shocking is they are overdoing their male counter parts.
People cannot forget infamous statements of former Union Minister,UP CM Mulayam Singh that 'Boys are Boys.. rapes happen'. Now congress firebrand leader Renuka Chowdhary came with shocking comments on rapes insulting rape victims.
Hearing her comments many felt that she is becoming the champion of rapists. Speaking about Bulandshahr gangrape case in which the Uttar Pradesh police arrested all the accused she said "rape to chalte hi rehte hain"
Other parties are up in arms ever since she commented 'Rape to chalte hi rehte hai' (rape is common) and if they arrest someone after 10-20 days and think that we will pat their back then this won't happen."
In the meantime UP government, ruling SP and CM Akhilesh Yadav is going on blaming opposition for tutoring families of rape vicitms to accuse the ruling party and government of inaction.
