Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently addressing the Nation from Red Fort on the country's 70th Independence Day. Here are few excerpts from today's program at Red Fort
7:55am - Modi : "In the past, when someone wanted to start a company, set up a factory - it used to take months. Today we are ready to register them within 24 hours."
7:57am - "We have found 9,000 lower ranks in which there will not be any interviews, there will not be any need of references and middlemen. These appointments are being done on merit."
8:00am - "Working of Village roads started under Vajpayee ji rule. We have progressed that forward. Initially we used to made 75 Kms of roads in a day. Today we make more than 100 Kms in a day."
8:03am - "More than 75 Crore Indians were connected through Aadhar and Social security schemes."
8:07am - "During 2014, 18,000 Villages never had electricity. When we came to power, we decided most of them must get electricity. Not even half the time has passed, now 10000 villages have got electricity."
8:12am - "We are planning to distribute more than 77 Crore LED Bulbs. I urge everyone to use LED Bulbs. Renewable energy is a focus area for our government. This 77 Crore LED Bulbs can save 20K MW of electricity."
8:17am - "Our farmers have come forward to solve the Dal Crisis. We are now taking schemes of Water Conservation."
8:20am - "I have done my best to keep corruption away from the Government. We have bought TRANSPARENCY."
8:30am - "90 Shut Irrigation schemes will be revived. 77,000 solar pumps distributed to bring down input cost of farmers. Food godowns with 15 lakh ton capacity have been built."
8:32am - "Lots of plans were left at stake. We have revived them. We are also working more on satellites."
8:44am - "GST will unify our taxes and can make us uniform. Electricity prices have been cut down."
8:49am - "My dear Sisters and brothers, to fight against social evils, we must rise above social evils. All citizens have to do this, else India can't progress. A strong society can only be built on social justice."
9:00am - "SAARC countries have a common problem - poverty. I call upon all to come together and fight poverty."
9:05am - "Many innocent people lost their lives in Peshawar attack. But on other hand, look at those who glorify terrorists. What kind of people glorify terrorists?"
