Chennai sources have stated that Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah and Chief Minister J Jayalalitha, on Sunday have greeted the people on the eve of Independence Day and have urged them to work for the growth of the nation.
Rosaiah has told that on the joyous occasion of our Nation's Independence, he has conveyed his heartiest greetings and best wishes to all the citizens. Our nation is a tripod of secularism and it is a fusion of diverse tradition and let us on the anniversary of our nation's Independence pledge to strengthen the foundations of mutual understanding.
Meanwhile in an official release, the CM has conveyed her heartiest Independence Day greetings to the people, where all of us should work tirelessly for the growth of our motherland and she said, adding that such initiatives should be carried out with a spirit of unity.
Jayalalitha has also stated that the AIADMK led government is implementing several schemes for the benefit of freedom fighters and their heirs and the government had increased freedom fighters' pension from Rs 10,000 to Rs 11,000, and the family pension for their heirs was increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,500.
