Chennai sources have stated that DMK MLAs who were suspended for a week has held a mock Assembly in the premises of Fort St. George on Friday and the DMK deputy leader Duraimurugan functioned as Speaker and Leader of the Opposition M.K. Stalin has occupied the Chief Minister's chair.


Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Speaker P. Dhanapal on Friday once again has ruled out reconsidering the suspension of DMK MLAs and the Speaker, responding to please by DMK’s K.N. Nehru, who was not among those suspended since he was not present in the House on August 17th, 2016.


It is stated that on Thursday too, Mr. Dhanapal has refused to revoke the en masse suspension of 80 DMK members and on the same day, the suspended members have staged a protest outside the House and their colleagues inside twice staged a walkout over the issue.


Mr. Stalin said the suspended MLAs had held a ‘model Assembly’ where they were informed in advance that only people’s issues should be discussed and nothing else and has reiterated his demand for live broadcast of Assembly proceedings, saying that will help in identifying on who “committed mistakes”.
