The word surgical strikes generate lot of interest among Indians as Indian politicians often talk of carrying out surgical strikes to flush out terrorists from across the border with Pakistan and other neighbouring countries. However their words never match their deeds as they develop cold feet when it comes to giving green signal to the Army.

However all that seems to be changing with Modi becoming the Prime Minister of the country. In June last year, Army conducted surgical strikes to flush out militants across India-Myanmar border. This signalled change in India's foreign policy and shift in strategy on tackling terrorism.

Major gun battle is underway between the army and National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) militants in the Mon district of Nagaland, on Friday. 30 Indian paratroopers are taking on NSCN K and army rejected claims by the terror groups that they killed 5-6 commandos.

Army sources confirmed "Our troops had laid an ambush along a known infiltration route. After the ensuing gunfight, the militants fled back into Myanmar. They left some weapons behind. There were no casualties on our side," . The encounter happened near Throilu village in Mon district at 5.30 AM.

Army didnot reveNSCNal the casualties on the militants side. The NSCN (K) is an armed insurgency group  which is working to unify all the Naga-inhabited areas in the North East of India and Myanmar and form separate country.
