PV.Sindhu who did India proud by becoming the youngest and the first woman from the country to win silver medal at Olympics when she entered the finals of badminton singles in Rio Olympics now started fulfilling her vows.

Sindhu who returned back to rousing reception and got felicitations from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments on Saturday offered prayers to powerful Goddess Mahankali at Laldarwaja temple in the Old City, Hyderabad.

She fulfilled her vows by carrying bonam (offerings to the Goddess) on her head and went to the temple in a procession to the accompaniment of traditional nadaswaram. Temple officials and priests accorded traditional welcome to Sindhu and her family and later performed special prayers on Sindhu's name. 



Sindhu said: “I offer bonam to ammavaru every year.”

Sindhu later speaking to scribed said “I offer bonum to ammavaru every year" . Sindhu revealed “I sought blessings of Ammavaru before leaving for Rio Olympics. I told myself that If I win a medal at Rio Olympcs, I will come again to offer bonam. After my best performance at Olympics, I am here to offer bonam.”


Sindhu in the recently held Rio Olympics entered Badminton finals but after a vailant fight against wolrd No 1 Carolina Marin, she lost the finals after winning the first set but won the hearts of all by winning the silver medal. 


She and her coach Gopichand are now basking under the glory of the stupendous success. Sindhu will fulfill her vows and vows made by her parents at various temples before starting her perparations for the next international tournaments starting from September.
